Pakistani refugees in Thailand are trapped in an impossible situation. With UN aid slashed by billions and no legal right to work, thousands of families are facing starvation, homelessness, and despair.

Understanding the Crisis

Why Pakistani Refugees in Thailand Are Losing Everything

A perfect storm of funding cuts, policy shifts, and global indifference has left thousands of vulnerable people with nowhere to turn.

Global Funding Shortfall

The UNHCR announced an $8.1 billion shortfall in mid-2025, forcing a 33% reduction in its global workforce and the closure of 185 operational locations worldwide.

Major Donor Withdrawals

U.S. funding previously covered up to 90% of humanitarian aid in Thailand. When this funding was frozen or withdrawn, programs for food vouchers, health clinics, and cash assistance collapsed.

No Right to Work

Refugees in Thailand are legally prohibited from working. Without employment rights and with aid disappearing, families have no means to provide for themselves or their children.

Protracted Crisis Fatigue

The Pakistani refugee situation in Thailand is considered a 'protracted' crisis. After years without resolution, donor fatigue has set in, leaving families forgotten and abandoned.

The Numbers Tell a Story of Abandonment

Behind every statistic is a family struggling to survive, children going hungry, and dreams being shattered.
